FORMER FIRST Lady Michelle Obama publicly applauded Beyoncé on Twitter this week after the star announced scholarship program for young women.
Mrs Obama praised Bey’s “powerful contributions” and said the singer was a “role model for us all”.
She wrote: “Always inspired by your powerful contributions @Beyonce. You are a role model for us all. Thank you for investing in our girls.”
The Formation Scholarship is a joint venture between Beyoncé and her management company, Parkwood and will support young women who are “unafraid to think outside the box, bold, creative, conscious, and confident.”
Students at Howard University, Spelman, Berklee College of Music, and Parsons School of Design are eligible with applicants required to be incoming, current, or graduates studying creative arts, music, literature or African-American Studies.
While in office, Mrs Obama focused on efforts to support girls’ education worldwide, launching Let Girls Learn in 2015.
A global initiative, the organisation promotes access to education for young women. And if this tweet is any indication, it seems Obama isn’t going to give up on the issue any time soon.
