This Florida teen honours black victims of police brutality on her prom dress

MAKING A STATEMENT: Florida teen, named locally as Milan

THIS FLORIDA teen used her prom night to honour black lives lost to police brutality by wearing a dress covered with the faces of the victims.

The student, named locally as Milan, has an image of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen who was shot dead by self-styled neighbourhood watchman George Zimmerman in 2012, on the front of her dress.

There are also images of Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old fatally wounded by police as he played in a park and Sandra Bland, whose death inside a police jail cell sparked the hashtag #SayHerName.

Milan, a star basketball player at her school, enlisted the help from designer Terrence Torrance for her statement dress, which has since won worldwide attention.
