One of the UK’s leading young presenters launches networking event to help creatives to break into the mainstream

SUPPORTING CREATIVES: Remel London

A TOP London-based presenter and radio host, dubbed the ‘next Oprah Winfrey’, will launch an event aimed at providing aspiring creatives with the necessary tools to break into the industry.

Remel London says it’s her own journey in navigating the media industry, which has led to work with leading UK platforms including BBC 1Xtra and LinkUp TV, inspired her to create The Mainstream, “an exclusive Q&A and networking event”.

“I know how hard it is starting out as a young presenter,” she told The Young Empire. “The journey isn’t as clear cut as maybe a lawyer or doctor, it’s all about getting the right opportunities.

“The Mainstream is the perfect place to network with other creatives and ask questions and seek guidance from some of the best presenters and broadcasters in the business.”

The inaugural event, in association with For Women Of Colour (FWOC) will take place this Wednesday (March 22) at Platform, Hornsey Road Baths, 2 Tiltman Place, London N7 7EE and will feature a Q&A with Remel and special guest, 4Music and ITV2 TV Presenter AJ Odudu.

Together, they will discuss breaking into the mainstream TV and radio industry. The night will be followed by networking.

“If you’re interested in becoming a presenter, getting into the mainstream media industry and want to network with the next generation of creatives this is the event for you,” Remel said.
