BRITISH ACTRESS Cynthia Erivo has added yet another gong to her growing award cabinet after landing Grammy at tonight’s ceremony.

Cynthia and fellow cast of Broadway hit, The Color Purple, took home the award for Best Musical Theater Album at the annual event.

“Oh MY GOD!!!! GRAMMY WINNER!!!!!,” she wrote on Twitter.

In June, the 30-year-old won a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for The Color Purple, which also stars Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks

Cynthia plays Celie, a young girl in the who suffers all the horrors of sexism and racism before finally coming in to her own.
“Erivo’s portrayal of that transformation is remarkable,” Jesse Oxfeld wrote in EW’s A-review of The Color Purple. This transformation is demonstrated in the showstopping number “I’m Here,” which Cynthia performed on The Late Show in May.
