EMPIRE ACTRESS Gabourey Sidibe has given fans a sneak peek of her upcoming memoir, This Is Just My Face (Try Not to Stare).
“The official cover and title of my book, This Is Just My Face (Try Not To Stare) is finally here! Go to thisisjustmyface.com for info,” she tweeted.
The book will go on sale next year and feature stories from Sidibe’s life, spanning style and fame to depression and family, and she’ll use the wit and honesty we’ve come to expect from her.
“I’ve been writing since I was a child, and have always had so many stories to tell that are too long, shady, and impolite to share in interviews,” Gabourey said in a release. “It brings me much joy to add Published Writer to my resume of Actor and part-time Foot Model.”
Gabourey’a memoir hits hard with self-knowing dispatches on friendship, depression, celebrity, haters, fashion, race, and weight (“If I could just get the world to see me the way I see myself,” she writes, “would my body still be a thing you walked away thinking about?”). Irreverent, hilarious, and untraditional, This Is Just My Face takes its place and fills a void on the shelf of writers from Mindy Kaling to David Sedaris to Lena Dunham.
