BRITISH ACTOR John Boyega was pictured on the set of his new film, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom in Australia.
The BAFTA-winning star, plays the son of the character played by fellow UK actor Idris Elba in the Guillermo del Toro-directed American science fiction monster film.
The 2013 original grossed $411 million.
Upon landing the role, John told followers on social media that he is “excited” to be taking the role, and will also be co-producing.
“I’ll be taking on the Pacific Rim franchise! I’m excited to be working with Legendary pictures and Steven S.Deknight. My company UpperRoom Productions founded by myself & @MrFemiOguns, will co-produce #PacificRim2 alongside @Legendary,” he wrote.
He continued: “For me, this collaboration couldn’t be a better way to get UpperRoom started. It brings an invigorating feeling to know that I get to participate in the telling of a remarkable story from more than one angle. Big love to all X”
The 24-year-old has has also completed filming a starring role in science fiction drama The Circle alongside Tom Hanks.
He’s also continuing his role as a storm trooper who joined the resistance in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
