OSCAR-WINNING actress Lupita Nyong’o has credited her mother for helping her build her “confidence from the inside”.
The Queen of Katwe star is the focus of Diverse Beauty, a new book by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, which she describes as embracing “all different types of beauty”.
Lupita, who revealed her complexion had always been an obstacle to overcome, wrote on Instagram:
“Photographer @AlexiLubomirski’s new book #DiverseBeauty embraces all different types of beauty, so I shared it with the woman who taught me that the most beautiful thing is love.
“My Mummy is the reason I am the woman I am today – she helped me build my confidence from inside by making me do things like create dream charts growing up. In @QueenOfKatweMovie, Phiona Mutesi’s story exemplifies the magic when we strive to make our dreams come true, no matter what the odds are against us. Life is more beautiful and meaningful when we dream out loud. My mom taught me this, so I would love to hear what your dreams are.
“Use the hashtag #DreamOutLoud to share your vision any way you like! I’ll be listening ❤️ And to my Mummy, the most beautiful of all, I love you! 📷 @dilokritbarose”
