SERENA WILLIAMS reached a milestone at Wimbledon.
The tennis star and defending champion won her 300th career Grand Slam match after defeating Annika Beck, 6-3, 6-0 yesterday (June 3) in London.
The victory places her into second place for career Slam titles after Martina Navratilova, whose career record is 306-49. Serena is now 300-42.
In a post-match interview she said: “Every time I step out on the court, if I don’t win, it’s major national news,” she said. “But if I do win, it’s just like a small tag in the corner.”
She will next face two-time major champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.
