VICTORIOUS: Wales captain Ashley Williams

WALES COULD hear the call of history.

Wales have not reached a major finals since they were beaten by Brazil in the last eight of the 1958 World Cup, but tonight was the night.

And team captain Ashley Williams was the man to score the first goal in a match again Belgium 3-1 in Euro 2016.

After falling a goal behind to Radja Nainggolan, Wales roared back to triumph through strikes of their own from three of the most unlikely of scoring sources, which also included Hal Robson-Kanu and finally substitute Sam Vokes.

Wales’ victory is their best-ever achievement at a major finals.

The dramatic win in Lille means Wales will play Portugal in the quarter-finals
