EAST LONDON MC Wiley has landed a publishing deal for his upcoming autobiography
Rights to Wiley: The Autobiography by Richard Kylea Cowie were signed by senior editor Briony Gowlett from Harriet Poland at The Hanbury Agency Ltd for Hodder & Stoughton publishing house.
The British grime MC, songwriter and record producer, affectionately dubbed ‘The Godfather of Grime’ has had a lengthy career and played an instrumental role in cultivating the thriving grime scene.
Last year, he was awarded a special Paving The Way plaque from the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.
The 37-year-old confirmed the good news adding the book will be preceded by a new musical offering.
“Looking forward to sharing my story, coming in November. Big respect to Briony, Hodder and my team for helping making this happen. Also dropping the Godfather Album in September to go alongside the book, and film coming soon. 2016/2017 let’s go!” said Wiley.
Gowlett said: “Artists don’t come much more exciting, unpredictable and authentic than Wiley. This book will be everything his fans have been waiting for and we are plotting an unforgettable publication campaign that they will love.”
Poland added that Wiley’s personal story was “fascinating” and said: “We can’t wait to see what Wiley and the great team at Hodder create,” she said.
The book will be published in hardback later this year on November 3.
