PROUD SON and British F1 ace Lewis Hamilton took his mother Carmen to the Time 100 Gala last night (April 26) where he also dedicated his speech to his father.
The racing champion, 31, landed a coveted spot on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, the annual list of the world’s elite influencers.
He was described by retired world champion racing driver Mario Andretti as “the highest echelon of the sport”.
“If he were to retire tomorrow, he would still be among the very best champions who have ever lived,” Mario said.
“What makes Lewis different is his attitude. He exudes confidence, but he is serene,” he added.
Lewis dedicated his first toast at the event to the late musician Prince, who he described as “the greatest of all time”.
He then told the crowd that his father had “made it all possible” for him. “This is really for my dad,” Lewis said, adding that his father Anthony worked hard to provide for his family since they didn’t come from a wealthy background.
