GREAT BRITISH Bake Off (GBBO) winner Nadiya Hussain has announced that she has been given the special privilege of creating the Queen’s 90th birthday cake this year.
The 31-year-old baker, from Luton in the UK, excitedly revealed she has been given the honour on Friday (April 15).
“I’m making the Queen’s 90th birthday cake,” the self-taught baker told ITV 1’s Loose Women. “Sometimes I want to drown it out because I don’t want to talk about it.
“How often can you say that you are baking the Queen’s birthday cake in one sentence?”
Nadiya, the first Muslim winner of GBBO, had initially presumed the news was a joke when she received an email to tell her of the regal invitation.
But soon a call from her agent confirmed it.
Although she is feeling the pressure of such a mammoth and important task, she told the panel, “I can’t say no to the Queen!”
