REVERED MUSIC journalist Joseph ‘JP’ Patterson has been appointed the senior editor of Complex UK Magazine.
Announcing the news on Twitter earlier this month, he wrote: “It’s official: I’m the new Senior Editor of @complex_UK #godisgood.”
Joseph, who has penned pieces for respected titles including MTV, Vogue, The Guardian during his career, was previously the magazine’s music editor.
A respected name in the media, the 27-year-old is known for his impassioned coverage of the UK music scene.
“I owe a lot to grime: my career, my sanity (there’s nothing more uplifting than a classic Sidewinder set). And as the scene grew, so did I, as a person,” he told iD in a recent interview.
“For me, grime has always been more than just a style of music. In the wise words of Skepta on his celebratory Shutdown single: “This ain’t a culture, it’s my religion.”
