NORTH LONDON rapper Little Simz has announced she is to perform at the annual Essence Festival in America this June.
The 22-year-old, who will begin a tour of North America on March 6, will join the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey and Maxwell at the four-day music event from June 30 to July 3.
“”Proud to announce I’m performing at @essencefest 2016! Get your tickets now,” she wrote on Twitter today (March 1).
The Essence Music Festival, known as “the party with a purpose”, is an annual music festival, which started in 1994 as a one-time event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence, a magazine aimed primarily towards African-American women.
It is the largest event celebrating African-American culture and music in the United States.
Other names confirmed to perform across the five stages during the festival include Doug E. Fresh, Ciara, New Edition, Babyface, Charlie Wilson, and Tyrese.
