KENDRICK LAMAR brought a handful of students from his former school to celebrate with him at the Grammy Awards.
The 23-year-old rapper dominated the annual ceremony taking home five gongs on the night and topped off his night with a provocative performance of The Blacker The Berry.
But before he got to the Grammy festivities, he was busy giving back to his hometown of Compton.
The Compton native, who received the key to the city over the weekend, invited a handful of students from his former high school, Centennial High School, to spend the day with him before the Grammys and to join him at the awards ceremony.
In collaboration with Reebok, K-Dot gave the six high school students an experience of a lifetime.
With just 11 miles separating Compton from the red carpet, they dubbed the experience “11 Miles To Glory.”
To show their appreciation, the students gifted Kendrick with a pair of Reeboks where they all wrote congratulatory messages to him before he took the stage.
Kendrick said of the experience: “In the next 10 years from now, hopefully they’ll be further than where I’m at. It’s a beautiful thing.”
