Olajumoke Orisaguna, a bread seller and trained hairdresser, first caught the eye of Nigerian celebrity photographer and singer, Ty Bello, who took photographs of her as she mistakenly entered her shots.
Ty Bello’s candid images where then published on the cover of Nigerian newspaper ThisDay, which features a number of local A-list socialites and celebrities.
The initial picture has since gone viral and Olajumoke, a 27-year-old mother-of-two, has been inundated with internships at various hairdressers in Lagos and received modelling contracts.
“From a most indigent background, Olajumoke left Osun State where she was a hair dresser, to come to Lagos in search of the Golden Fleece, hawking bread 7times a week with a profit of 200 naira daily,” Bella Naija writes.
Her story proves that you “can create positive movement for one another without waiting for government. Nobody is ever useless, no matter the condition you find yourself, no condition is permanent, as long as you are not lazy,” they added.
