THERE ARE just three more days left to vote for Star Wars actor John Boyega to win BAFTA’s EE Rising Star Award.
The 23-year-old south London born star, who raced into the history books when the seventh instalment of the hit franchise became the highest grossing movie of all-time domestically and was also listed on Forbes’ 30 under 30 Europe list of inspirational young people, is up against names including Dakota Johnson and Taron Egerton at the February 14 ceremony.
“This is just one of the many successes to come from the UK and LA-based Identity Drama Agency Group” his agent Femi Ogun wrote on Facebook.
The Rising Star Award is designed to recognise rising talent, “however it is not intended as a true ‘beginner’s award’, nor is it intended to be for child actors. In exceptional circumstances, a star-making debut will be considered. Nominees will usually be aged between 18 and 32,” BAFTA said.
Past winners of the prestigious EE Rising Star Award at The British Academy Film Awards include James McAvoy, Tom Hardy and Jack O’Connell.
