UK COMEDIAN Kojo will host this year’s Screen Nation Awards he announced today (Feb 4).
The UK-based annual ceremony, which celebrates “the leading professionals of UK & global African Diaspora heritage” in film and TV, will take place on March 19.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be hosting the @screennation awards 2016 on March 19th,” the award-winning comedian, who has worked with comedians including Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Kevin Hart, wrote on Twitter.
Previous winners at Screen Nation include Hollywood star Idris Elba, Belle director Amma Asante and British film star Thandie Newton.
Screen Nation hosts a number of events throughout the year to acknowledge, recognise and reward talent for their achievements in film, television and digital media as well as champion new talent and provide a platform for emerging artists.
In 2013, the ceremony launched The Digital-iS Media Awards, bi-annual online awards covering up to 12 categories themed under digital publishing, entertainment and culture.
This purely online event highlights a new born media maker that can simply wake up write, cast and fund a project online, record & edit with a mobile device, launch a YouTube channel to distribute the work, and design a blog to start publicising it to find an audience via any one of a number of social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat
“Digital media makers are a new breed and so the awards structure takes the form of a fun interactive and modern online focused event streamed live via Google Hangout and Youtube,” organisers said.
This year’s event will take place at London’s Hilton Metropole hotel from 5pm.
