BOW WOW has announced he will front a late night talk show giving a platform to hip-hop stars.
The rapper turned actor, real name Shad Moss, announced the news this afternoon (Feb 2), revealing he had been “quietly working on a project that I felt was needed”.
“[It] won’t be like anything on TV. It’s going to be a show you have to watch,” the 28-year-old said. “Music will play an important key to the show. I felt I had to do this. There’s no platform for hip-hop artist no more. Where can they go to promote on TV other than Revolt?”
“College kids and high school students have nothing at 10pm to really look forward to,” he went on. “Where my guest could be Kendrick Lamar with J Cole performing live. To having Michelle Obama on. I found my stride. I want to help the culture and this is my way of giving back to the game that made me!”
Bow Wow, who currently stars on CSI spinoff CSI Cyber, revealed he is going through set designs and working hard to secure basketball legend, Kobe Bryant as his first guest.
“I want my first guest to be none other than Laker legend Kobe Bryant,” he wrote in a lengthy Instagram post announcing his new venture today (Feb 3). “I want to kick the show off with him.”
He explained: “First time people saw me was on Arsenio Hall show. So its only right i go back to where it started.first let me thank him by paving the way because i wouldn’t have did what I’m about to do. I been quietly working on a project that i felt was needed.
Bow wow rose to fame at the age of 13 following the release of his debut album, Beware of the Dog.
He has since starred in several Hollywood films, including Roll Bounce and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, while making guest appearances on Smallville and Ugly Betty.
Then in 2013, was confirmed that Bow Wow was chosen as the host of BET’s 106 & Park after former hosts Terrence J and Rocsi retired from the show
Recalling his own journey, the star said: “First time people saw me was on Arsenio Hall show. So it’s only right I go back to where it started. First let me thank him by paving the way becauseI wouldn’t have done what I’m about to do.
“When I hosted 106 I knew then I could do whatever (talent wise) but I did not own 106 I had little control and I’ve got to be the man because I’m a creator. We will have the best producers and show runners in the game!
He added: “Remember, I never wanted to be the best rapper, but the greatest multi-entertainer of all time for my era.”
