UK COMEDIAN Dane Baptiste is to embark on his first solo UK tour.
The 34-year-old, who last month had his Sunny D comedy series commissioned by BBC 3, will kick off his Reasonable Doubts tour in March.
It follows the success of the format at this year’s Edinburgh’s Festival, which was met with critical acclaim.
It has been non-stop for the comedian, named The Independent’s Face To Watch in 2015.
He had incredible success with his debut show Citizen Dane, which saw him nominated for Best Newcomer in both the Foster’s Comedy Awards at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival and again in this year’s Chortle awards.
Dane has also completed two sold out runs at The Soho Theatre, written and starred in his own sitcom pilot for BBC3 alongside numerous other TV and radio appearances and performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Reasonable Doubts will see the comic question his success. Can he be a comedian distinct from the other seven black comics known in the UK? Will he now be considered the go-to guy for any formats that require ethnicity?
His first show will take place in Epsom on March 4.
