FORMER JLS star Aston Merrygold will open for US singer Jason Derulo in his three-date UK and Ireland tour later this month, it has been announced.
The former boyband singer, who shot to fame after the group secured second place on The X Factor in 2008, revealed the news on social media earlier today (Jan 20).
“It’s OFFICIAL! I’ll be opening for @jasonderulo’s on his UK and IRELAND arena tour,” he wrote. “Shout out to Jason for the opportunity! It’s going off.”
Jason Derulo, who has sold almost 50 million singles worldwide and racked up over 1.8 billion views on YouTube and 2 billion plays on Spotify, hit back with: “.@AstonMerrygold glad to have u my g! #Everythingis4tour is going #AllTheWayUp.”
Aston released his debut single Get Stupid over the summer and is readying to release his first solo album.
He had previously released four albums as part of the chart-topping pop group JLS, who split up in 2013.
In the same year, they were listed as the sixteenth richest reality TV stars in the UK, with an estimated fortune of £6 million per member, thus giving the band a financial worth of approximately £24 million.
