FORBES LIST: John Boyega

STAR WARS actor John Boyega has been listed on the first-ever Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

The inaugural rundown profiles the 300 young innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders across Europe who are under 30 years of age and who are transforming business, technology, finance, media, culture and more, as judged by some of the most accomplished and acclaimed individuals in each category.

John, who was born in Peckham, south London, was propelled to worldwide fame after landing the career-changing role Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the decent instalment of the hit franchise.

“It’s a galactic leap from the small roles he held in Fox’s 24: Live Another Day miniseries and the Sundance acclaimed indie film, Imperial Dreams,” his profile on the prestigious list read.

The 23-year-old actor revealed he endured a gruelling seven months of auditions to land the role.

Describing the auditions he had to get through, overseen by director J J Abrams, he told GQ Style magazine it was a thorough process.

“I was unleashed into seven months of auditions,” he revealed. “It was like The X Factor, but without the TV show around it. It was intense.”

It will come as no surprise then that the star was brought to tears when he read the role.

“When I read the script I cried, and I’m not really a big crier… I’m more like a frog-in-the-throat kind of guy, who’ll try to hold it in and make sure I don’t let it all out.”
