THE FIRST-EVER Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe Media list has been revealed and spans the gamut from award-winning journalists to founders of multi-million dollar companies.
Among the inspirational names is 25-year-old entrepreneur Jamal Edwards, who is the founder of youth broadcasting channel SBTV.
Jamal,who is credited with revolutionising he UK music scene and discovering some of the biggest talent, founded the popular YouTube music channel in his London bedroom as a teenager – initially as a platform to push the UK grime scene – and and it has recently passed 330 million views.
“Every year, I’ve always said I wanted to be on this Forbes list before I hit 30 & this year I’ve made it,” Jamal, dubbed the ‘Simon Cowell of grime music’, wrote on Instagram today (Jan 19). “This is the first ever #ForbesU30Europe list too so I’m honoured to pioneer on it with so many other people doing great things in their fields. As always big up the team & everyone who continues to support the movement! #SelfBelief #GenerationDIY”
The music mogul,who was honoured by the Queen in March 2015 for his services to music, wants to expand his business in other areas like marketing, PR and merchandising.
Judges for the list included CNN correspondent and anchor Hala Gorani; Alex Wood, founder and editor-in-chief of technology news site The Memo; and the managing editor of national politics at German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Heribert Prantl; and the list of nominees was culled by Leonard Schoenberger.
