THE RELEASE date of Star Wars: Episode 8 is less than two years away, and the rumour mill is beginning to churn.
The latest addition to it is Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who is being tipped as one of the four actresses all vying for one of the two female lead characters.
Mbatha-Raw, the rising British star of Belle and, more recently, Beyond The Lights, is said have auditioned for Episode 8 director Rian Johnson, who has a “shortlist” of ideal candidates to star in his follow-up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Last night, the 32-year-old announced the BAFTA nominations in London with comedian and actor Stephen Fry.
The BAFTA awards will be handed out on 14 February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
